A family business since 2015
Father and son Scott and Anthony Wing made their first knives together in a garage in Encinitas. Ten years later, it's still the two of them behind every design, and still built around the water and the kitchen.
Why fillet and kitchen knives first
Scott had collected knives for years. In late 2015 he and Anthony started making their own in the garage, learning from videos, forums and a lot of trial and error.
Most new knifemakers start with hunting knives. We started with what we actually used. Between freediving, spearfishing, surfing and fishing, we were cleaning fish all the time, and we both love to cook. So the first knives were fillet knives and kitchen knives, and they're still the heart of what we make.
In 2016 friends, family and people on Instagram started asking to buy them. That was the start of the business.
Ten years, briefly
- 2015 First knives in the garage.
- 2016 Leucadia Custom Knives opens for orders.
- 1,000+ One-off custom knives, and a waiting list that hit a year.
- 2023 We become Leucadia Blade Co. Same team, same knives.
- 2026 Ten years, and the LandShark with Pro-Tech Knives.
How we work now
Custom quality, without the year-long wait
Demand for our custom knives outgrew one-off work, so we built a production process around the same designs and the same standards. Today we make every knife ourselves, together with a network of American specialty partners. Every one is our own original design, made in the USA.
